⛳🍻 A Day to Honor: MIOS Fall Invitational & Brews for the Brave

On October 9th, Chenega MIOS brought the community together for a day of connection, celebration, and camaraderie at Old Hickory Golf Club in Woodbridge, VA. With beautiful weather and even better company, we hosted not one — but two unforgettable events to raise funds for an incredible cause, Vigilant Torch.

Vigilant Torch (VT) is a volunteer organization that provides vital financial support to the Special Operations Community in their greatest time of need. They do this through emergency relief funds, especially for those wounded or killed in action, family maintenance/resilience support, and scholarships for family members.

🏌️ Fall Invitational: Swinging into Autumn

Our annual MIOS Fall Invitational teed off the day with lunch, friendly competition, and plenty of sunshine. Employees, along with their friends, family, and colleagues, hit the greens for a fun round of golf that encouraged team bonding and camaraderie outside of the office. This year, we introduced opening up Hole Sponsorships, inviting local businesses to join the festivities. With custom-designed signage displayed on tee boxes, six generous sponsors, Studio One Printing, Giorgio’s Family Restaurant, Chesapeake Growth Advisors, Gallagher Wealth Management, Ace Trim Carpentry, and Elite Government Strategy, added a vibrant touch to the course and helped make the event even more special (all while allowing us to raise even more funds for our Nation’s heroes).

🍺 Brews for the Brave: Cheers to Community

As the round began to close out, the energy shifted at the Clubhouse to begin our Brews for the Brave celebration—an evening filled with live music, delicious hors d’oeuvres, craft beer tastings from six local breweries, each showcasing their top two brews, a raffle, and more. With over 125 attendees, the event buzzed with laughter, clinking glasses, and the joyful sounds of kids playing and dancing around. It was a true testament to the power of community and the spirit of giving back.

From the first swing to the final toast, October 9th was a day that reminded us why we do what we do. All in all, we are extremely proud to have raised over $13,000 ($4,000 more than last year), for VT. These funds meant a little bit more this year, knowing that a generous donor was matching our funds raised to go to the VT Philo Project. The Philo Project is an initiative that VT has taken on to allow high-risk Special Operations veterans to get potentially life-saving body scans at no cost to them. Of those scanned so far, nearly 1 in 5 veterans uncovered significant medical findings.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, supported us, and helped make these events a resounding success!
