Astraeus Operations (AO) is proud to spotlight Instructional System Designer, Mandy Johnson.
Mandy has been a part of the Chenega family for four years, now supporting Astraeus Operations where she plays a key role in maintaining and updating courses at the Trident Training Facilities (TTFs) for the U.S Navy Strategic Systems Programs (SSP). Her work supports the SSP mission by delivering immersive training to submarine weapons systems personnel, focusing on the operation and maintenance of complex ballistic missile systems. Due to her expertise, the customer frequently requests Mandy to train other SSP contractors, training facility staff, and, most recently, UK Navy instructors on utilizing the Learning Management System (LMS) and training content. L3 Harris Technologies Technical Training Manager, Christopher Aycock stated, “Mandy’s Seaware knowledge and expertise helped to identify additional features and functions that will be highly beneficial in our future ITC pipelines.” She ensures that the content remains current and relevant by regularly verifying the accuracy of the information and resources. Additionally, Mandy validates courses using the Learning Management System to confirm that all embedded links and Interactive Multimedia Instruction slides operate as expected.
Mandy’s favorite part of her job is the teamwork. She says, “I enjoy working together as a TEAM. I can truly count on the group I work with and for.” This sense of camaraderie is what drives her passion for her work.
Outside of work, Mandy has taken up smoking meat, inspired by her supervisor and teammates. She recently purchased a smoker and has quickly become skilled, so much so that her 15-year-old nephew requested her smoked pork as a birthday present!
To decompress, Mandy enjoys walking her energetic dog, Dexter, who is a mix of Chihuahua and Jack Russell.
Mandy finds motivation in her mother, who has faced many challenges with resilience and positivity. Mandy says, “My mother continues to be my biggest motivator. She has experienced difficult moments in her life but continues to remain positive and has never given up.”
Mandy describes herself as happy, positive, and trustworthy, and we agree! AO thanks her for her dedication and hard work over the years.
