Astraeus Operations, LLC (AO) is proud to highlight the hard-working and dedicated mailroom services team who support the United States International Trade Commission (USITC), Office of Security Support Services (OSSS) in Washington, DC.
This contract began in June with a team of incumbent full-time and on-call employees, bringing a combined 119 years of previous experience with the USITC Mailroom, resulting in a well-oiled machine of perfected knowledge and skills. In addition to providing mail and package delivery services, which may total hundreds of pieces per day, the team also provides facilities-related support such as moving furniture and equipment, fulfilling supply requests, and providing transportation services for government officials.
Zoe Rutledge, the Assistant Supervisor/Supply Clerk, has been with USITC for 20 years and continues to be a proven asset to the team. Her day may include delivering incoming mail, packages, and supplies throughout the building, ordering supplies, completing monthly reports, making sure day-to-day operations run smoothly, and helping team members with any concerns. When asked what her favorite part about her job she stated, “How we work together as a team.” Zoe has also proven to be an invaluable onsite resource, assisting the team with Deltek, training, and all things “Chenega.”
When not working, Zoe enjoys walking, hanging with her family and friends, eating out, and watching HGTV for new decorating ideas. She loves interior decorating and is proud of her many accomplishments in helping family and friends make their homes beautiful.
For strength and motivation, Zoe looks up to her parents, daughter, and fiancé who along with her friends describe her as funny, nice, and an authentically good person.
Charles Alston is a Laborer/Driver for the team and has worked for USITC for almost 20 years. He has been a full-time employee for nearly five years and was a substitute for 15 years. He will tell you that his day-to-day responsibilities vary but ultimately his main duty is to provide great customer service. His favorite part of the job is getting to meet new people and interacting with his colleagues who describe him as reliable, funny, and dependable.
Outside of work, Charles enjoys spending time with his family and cooking. He and his family have cooking competitions to see who the best cook is and of course, according to him, he always wins. He also enjoys sitting on his back porch unwinding with a good beer. Charles and his wife built a raised vegetable garden this year and shared that seeing their vegetables flourish makes him proud of this accomplishment.
When asked who motivates him to keep up the great work he shared, “I remember growing up and seeing my mother’s hard work and dedication. That inspires me to give the same dedication when working.”
