Chenega Agile Real-Time Solutions (CARS) is excited to spotlight Raul Gomez-Velasquez for his grit and perseverance as a Criminal Analyst. Raul started with CARS back in 2021 and has been helping pave the way for some crucial contracts ever since. In his current position, Raul is staffed at the Department of Justice (DOJ) International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) in Washington, DC, serving as a document translator/interpreter from Spanish to English and vice versa. His role is a vital piece in ensuring that international relations and communications are accurate and that the information is relayed to the appropriate law enforcement agencies so that they can respond appropriately. This is no small feat, and CARS is so appreciative to have Raul’s expertise on their team.
Prior to working for Chenega, Raul graduated from the Central University of Venezuela. He worked in newspapers, radio, and TV stations, along with for the congress and the foreign service of Venezuela before he faced a switch in career paths. Raul wanted to use his knowledge of the Spanish language and its regional mannerisms to help make accurate and meaningful translations, knowing the profound importance of high-quality work for the sake of National security and representing Chenega.
When asked what he was proud of achieving, the humble Raul responded that he likes to avoid being proud of past accomplishments and instead looks forward to what he can achieve. He works toward making himself “a needed asset but with the goal being to reach a bigger objective.”
Outside of work, Raul loves listening to the music of Maria Callas and considers himself a “history buff.” He is currently in the middle of a series of books by Winston Groom on the political and military leadership through World War II, as well as some old journalism notes written by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, a Colombian novelist. Raul is a proud family man who enjoys going on a “fast walk” with his wife through their neighborhood paths at the end of each workday. He is also extremely excited to have recently welcomed a new grandbaby and loves cooking Latin meals for his son’s growing family.
