Chenega Invitational Hits Half-Million Mark

There are few things better than our Memorial Day traditions. A great backyard barbeque. The sound of Rolling Thunder. The opportunity to honor the lives and memories of our brave service members. This Memorial Day weekend, one of Chenega MIOS’s dearest traditions reached a proud and historic milestone.

In its twelfth year, the annual Chenega Invitational Charity Golf Tournament raised $80,000, bringing its fundraising total since its inception to over $500,000. All proceeds benefitted Azalea Charities’ Aid for Wounded Warriors, MIOS’s longtime philanthropic partner.

In one of the largest turnouts in the event’s history, more than 160 players, sponsors and volunteers from throughout the community and beyond came out to Old Hickory Golf Club in Woodbridge, Virginia, to support the cause. In addition to honoring our service members and wounded warriors, MIOS President John “JC” Campagna also dedicated the tournament to Chenega Corporation Chief Information Officer Rick Kessler, a longtime Chenega employee and supporter who could not attend the event due to health concerns.

Several weeks prior to the tournament, MIOS also hosted its first-ever Brews for the Brave, a family-friendly fundraising event featuring beer tastings, music, games and activities. More than one hundred people attended to sample craft beers from local breweries, play games and win raffle prizes, with all proceeds contributing to MIOS’s donation total to Azalea Charities for the year.

Azalea Charities’ Aid for Wounded Warriors provides comfort and relief items for wounded service members and their families. Since June 2004, the project has worked to help lift the spirits and morale of those brave heroes who so courageously served our country. For more information about Azalea Charities, click here.

From all of us at MIOS, our heartfelt gratitude to all who generously contributed to the 12th Annual Chenega Invitational and Azalea Charities. Your contributions help us provide much needed aid to those service members to whom we owe so much. Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to carrying on our favorite tradition next year!
