On September 9, 2023, Chenega MIOS had the honor of being the Title Sponsor to one of the greatest nights of the year, Dancing Under
the Stars. This beautiful event, hosted by the Los Charros Foundation, benefits the youth of the Cochise, Pima, Eastern Pinal, and Santa Cruz Counties, who otherwise would not have the opportunities they gain through this program.
The primary purpose of Dancing Under the Stars is to raise money for these youth to allow them to pursue successful futures in many fields, including agriculture, education, and trades. Many of these fields are quickly dwindling, though they are crucial to our everyday lives. Chenega MIOS and employees from Chenega IT Enterprise Services (CITES) were lucky enough to attend the event and participate in the auction, where the Los Charros Foundation raised a record amount of funds for the program in a single day: $100,000! This brought the total raised from the 6th Annual Dancing Under the Stars to over $360,000, allowing the Foundation to make a heavy impact on many scholarship recipients and youth wishing to partake in the 4-H and Future Farmers of America (FFA) programs.
Upon arrival, guests were greeted with great networking opportunities, live music, hors d’oeuvres, and the added bonus of meeting the animals that would later be auctioned off. These animals are used as donations for a few lucky youths, who then gain the opportunity to raise the animals and learn the many vital responsibilities that come with this job. They eventually bring these animals to fairs and shows with the goal of making enough money to raise other animals. Dancing Under the Stars featured a heifer, a goat, and a pig, and Chenega MIOS was proud to win the auction for both the pig and goat. We look forward to witnessing the bright future these young individuals have now with the animals they’ve been donated.
