Chenega MIOS Supports Local Veteran’s Day Efforts

Veteran’s Day is a time to honor and thank those who have served in the military, but it also presents an opportunity for communities to come together and support the men and women who have sacrificed so much for this country. This year, employees from Chenega Agile Real-Time Solutions (CARS) marked Veteran’s Day with an inspiring display of teamwork and generosity, participating in various volunteer activities across the community to give back to veterans and their families. CARS team members Benjamin Barton and Gary Nickleson spent Veteran’s Day weekend supporting volunteer efforts through American Legion Post 295. On November 9th, American Legion Post 295 participated in the Hometown Heroes Banner Ceremony outside of the United Methodist Church, distributing poppies and flags and reading In Flander Fields, reminding us of the sacrifices made by those who served.

On November 11th Ben and Gary participated in the Middleburg Charter School Veterans Day Assembly. Ben was joined by Legionnaires Anne Lansing and spoke to students about the importance of Veterans Day. “It was inspiring. We’ve always believed in the power of community service,” said Ben. “On Veterans Day it’s especially important to show appreciation for those who have given so much for our country. This was our way of giving back, and speaking to the youth of our nation was special!” Ben and Gary went on to attend the Joint Veterans Day and Armistice Day Ceremony alongside the Royal British Legion DC Chapter. The event featured St. Andrew’s Color Guard, national anthems, and remarks from Veterans around the region, honoring all who served. “Volunteering is such a powerful experience,” says Gary, “It’s one thing to work with your colleagues, it’s another to stand side by side to support our Veterans and bring the community together.”

Veterans Day is a reminder of the sacrifices made by those in uniform, but at Chenega MIOS the commitment to serving those who have sacrificed for our country is a year-round effort. As a Veterans-First organization, we have an unwavering commitment to support our local Veterans.
