Chenega MIOS Sponsors Operation Backpack

Chenega MIOS Teams Up with ABC 7 for Operation Backpack

Operation Backpack is run by the Volunteers of America and is the largest backpack/school supply in the region, annually helping over 2,000 homeless and underprivileged children as well as hundreds of families of active-duty military living right here in the Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, DC area. Last year over 5,000 school supplies were collected, which in turn helped over 500 families!

As a sponsor partner for this amazing community event running through July and August, Chenega MIOS hopes to gather even more donations and help even more families!

We are encouraging the donations of supplies online through the 7News Operation Backpack Amazon Wish List. 7News will deliver your items to Volunteers of America for distribution. You can use the buttons on this page to buy school supplies and/or donate money so items can be purchased for kids in need in the DMV who will be returning to school in the Fall. Amazon Wish List and monetary donations will be accepted until August 15th.
