On June 14, 1775, the Continental Congress authorized expert riflemen to enlist in order to serve the United Colonies for one year. In this, the United States Army was born, making it the oldest branch of the Armed Forces.
We would like to take a moment to thank Soldiers, past and present, for their dedication and commitment to our Nation. Without each and every one of you, our country would not be the strong and secure Nation that it is today. You have aided in creating a place that we are so lucky to call our home. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you.
