CWS Employee Creates Program to Track Construction Progress

Chenega Worldwide Support (CWS) is honored to spotlight Engineering Technician, George Zabet. George has been with CWS for less than two years but stands out for his hard work, dedication, and innovative solutions.

As an Engineering Technician on the CWS Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) contract at Naval Support Activity Walter Reed Bethesda National Military Medical Center, George’s position involves mostly Quality Assurance (QA) for the $600M+ construction project. He also works with the Contractor’s General Superintendents and Quality Control (QC) Manager. As part of his day, George builds daily QA reports, participates in all QC and preparatory/progress meetings, and processes and verifies RFIs in the initial phases to conducting daily closeout inspections. Additionally, he ensures the project stays on track by providing daily usage of all CM Programs and verifying ASI/RFI works with the Design of Record and different government departments. George also gives input on all Potential Change Orders (PCOs) and Modifications (MODs), as well as being the onsite eyes of the 575,000+ square foot building CWS is constructing. What George loves the most about his position is that he feels part of the family at Walter Reed. Although he hasn’t been there very long, George was able to accomplish creating a program using Microsoft Teams that helps with live tracking of the construction progress, that also generates interactive graphics!

In August, George received praise from the NAVFAC customer, calling him “a bit of a computer master.” The customer commented that the tracking system George put together for construction issues allows the Navy a chance to see any defects and quickly correct them so the project stays on time and on budget.

In his personal life, George loves running through the city and working out to decompress from his busy days. He also looks forward to the winter months when he can snowboard. George would describe himself as knowledgeable, persistent, and tactful, all great qualities for an Engineering Technician.

Thank you George for putting in all the extra work! We are so glad you are on the CWS team!
