MIOS Proudly Supports John S. McCain Freedom Award Celebration

On May 17, Chenega MIOS was pleased to support the International Republican Institute (IRI) John S. McCain Freedom Award Celebration. IRI is an advocacy group committed to advancing democracy worldwide, specifically focusing on election integrity, women’s political leadership, and gender equality. IRI honored the Women of Iran at Warner Theater in Washington, DC. The event kicked off with opening remarks by IRI Chairman U.S. Senator Dan Sullivan of Alaska. Sen. Sullivan reminded the audience of IRI’s growth and success in the 40 years since its founding. He also emphasized women’s invaluable role in the fight for democracy and how the women of Iran, while pushing back against the Islamic Republic, have demonstrated unwavering resolve. “‘ Women, Life, Freedom.’ We will not forget these words or the women who risk their lives chanting them,” Sullivan said. “We thank them for their resolve.”

This year’s recipients include Masih Alinejad, Nazanin Boniadi, and Mehrangiz Kar. Alinejad is a prominent Iranian-American journalist, author, and activist advocating for women’s rights and empowerment. Boniadi is an Iranian-born actress and renowned activist who campaigns for the rights of disenfranchised populations across the world. Kar is an Iranian attorney, writer, and activist who focuses on promoting democracy, rule of law, human rights, and women’s rights.

Chenega was honored to have Gregg Renkes, SVP of Government Relations, and Sonia Mundra, President of Chenega Analytic Business Solutions, attend the event on behalf of the corporation. Sonia had this to say about the event.

“It was an honor to help represent Chenega MIOS at this worthwhile event. The Women of Iran demonstrate a strength and resilience not unlike that of the Chenega people and the tragedies they have had to overcome. It was particularly inspiring to meet Senator Sullivan and to thank him for his tireless efforts supporting our Chenega shareholders and Chenega Corporation.”
