April 5th is recognized as Gold Star Spouses Day in honor of those whose spouses have made the ultimate sacrifice during military service. April is also known as the Month of the Military Child to honor and applaud the children of the armed forces for the sacrifices and challenges that they overcome on a daily basis.
Venturi was recently honored for the opportunity to sponsor the family of 1st LT David Albandoz, along with nine other companies. This sponsorship allowed for the donation of $15,000 to the ever-so-deserving Albondoz’s widow, Nicoleta, and their six-year-old daughter, Aeliana. The check was presented on April 5, 2021, at the Veterans Memorial in Huntsville, AL. Derek Johns, Venturi Director of Recruitment & Resource Management, described the event as “incredibly powerful, and there were more than a few tears. It was so nice to have a smiling six-year-old to keep the environment from getting too heavy. Aeliana and her mother were extremely gracious and strong throughout the entire ceremony.”
Venturi and the other companies also donated $2,600 to Semper Fi Community Task Force, a Huntsville-based non-profit organization that provides many services to Veterans and their families. Venturi’s employees often speak about how much they enjoy working for a company that gives back to the community.
We are so grateful that Venturi took the initiative in giving back to such a worthy cause, especially during the Month of the Military Child, to ensure that no child of a member of the services gets left behind.
